Frequently Asked Questions
What is the purpose of the Highway 48 Preliminary and Detail Design Study?
The study is being carried out by the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) to address pavement rehabilitation needs along Highway 48 and improve safety at the Highway 48 and Old Homestead Road intersection.
Is this project subject to an Environmental Assessment (EA)?
Yes. Environmental, social, economic, and transportation considerations are being evaluated as part of the Study. Input from Indigenous communities, agencies, stakeholders, and the public will help inform project decisions.
How can I provide feedback or get involved in the Study?
Members of the public, Indigenous communities, landowners, agencies and other interested parties are encouraged to participate actively in this Study by contacting the Project Team directly with information, comments or questions via the Contact Us page. All feedback received during the consultation period are being collected to assist the Project Team in meeting the requirements of the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act and will be considered as part of the Study.

Yes. One PIC is planned as part of the study process.
Where can I access project documents and reports?
All available project documents —including notices, maps, PIC materials, and reports — are available for download on the Documents page. New materials will be added as they become available throughout the Study.
